Hello all!  I just bought the new Mayday Parade CD and I have opinions I want to share with all of you.

So, the album 'Anywhere But Here' is the first album Mayday Parade has put out since 2007.  It is also the first album they've made since Jason Lancaster left the band.  After listening to the album several times, I realize the impact that Jason's departure has made.  I can't quite explain it, but something just seems off.

So, I shall now go track by track and tell you my thoughts, starting with my favorite, The Silence.  It was the first single off the album and I absolutely love it.  Its one of those songs that will undoubtedly get stuck in my head within the next few hours.  However, the lyrics are merely 'okay' and you can tell the difference between this album and MP's previous ones.

Next, Anywhere But Here.  This was the first song I heard from this album and I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it.  Now, it's grown on me, but alot of what made MP who they are is not present on this track.  The lyrics that stick with me are "But now my only star is falling
Its burning to the ground" and "Secret love, my escape Take me far far away."

Bruised and Scarred is also a great song, but it lacks slightly in originality.  Despite this, I love the emotion in the song.

The song Still Breathing makes me miss when MP didn't use most of their song title in the song.  Its not that its repetitive, but they seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on "I'm Still Breathing"

I live for super long titles, so If You Can't Live Without Me, Why Aren't You Dead Yet automatically gets a thumbs up from me.  There's something about songs with titles like 'Sophmore Slump or Comeback of the Year', 'If You Wanted A Song Written About You, All You Had To Do Was Ask', and 'I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song' that makes me want to listen to it and this song is no exception.  This song is a step up lyrically, but is still slightly typical.

'Get Up' is a decent song, but wears on my nerves a bit.  I'm not big on songs that use the names of cities since my friend made me listen to All Time Low's 'Hello Brooklyn' a few to many times.

So Far Away reminds me of the old MP, which is what I love about it.  However, its not the best song lyrically.

Save Your Heart is another good song, with pretty decent lyrics, but its nothing special.

Center of Attention is another good song because I love when bands use peoples names in their songs ("Katie, don't cry..." is a good example).  Other than that, nothing really stands out about it.

I Swear This Time I Mean It is a pretty good song, in my opinion.  I have always been a fan of MP's softer songs.  The lyrics are close to what Jason has written in the past and I really like it, but it wouldn't stand a chance against a song like 'Miserable At Best'.

Despite what I said before, I don't like the song 'The Memory' because it is too soft.  It needs just a little more 'umph' to make it better.

The End is a good song, despite the creative title.  I'd rank it near the top of the album, but its not the best.

Kids In Love sounds like your typical pop/punk song and that's whats wrong with it.  Its not terrible, but its not great.

Best Songs of the Album:  The Silence, If You Can't Live Without Me, Bruised and Scarred, and I Swear This Time I Mean It

Worst Songs of the Album:  Still Breathing and The Memory

Is The Album Worth Listening To:  Yes, but its not nearly as awesome as A Lesson in Romantics
